Budget Y pipe, any good?

I've been looking at the budget y pipe at www.budgetexhaust.com I have one question, do you get the "bees in a can" sound with this Y pipe? I DO NOT want that! Anyone with personal experience with this kind of y pipe, the price is sure right for a mandrel bent one.
Thanks

There are quite a few threads on people's impressions of Budget's y. Mine is about 6 mo. old & I got no bees. I do wonder though if there is a quality control issue at Budget? I think a good question to ask is who's got bees/no bees & specifically how old their pipe is. A bunch of us (~ 10) in the Toronto area bought budget's y for 4th/5th gens earlier this Spring & I haven't heard a single person mention bee noises.

Excellent y-pipe at an excellent price.
I have no bees-in-the-can sound, but had to put a resonator on to quiet my exhaust down...just personal preference.
Great power gains though

Anybody got any dyno slips, before and after? Also there is a guy on ebay selling aluminum pipe that is a direct replacement for the Cat. Where I live we have NO emmision inspection so this is not a problem if I want one. He however he is claiming, 9 to 10 HP increase, kinda hard to believe, considering a Hi flow cat dosen't claim anything near that. Who do you believe?
Here is what I want to do, budget Y pipe ( aluminized steel, mandrel bent) No cat, just a pipe where the cat used to be, I have a friend that can custom make me a B pipe although it will not be mandrel bent....(does that even make sence to do? or should a b pipe be mandrel bent to get anything extra out of it?) and a factory muffler.(do aftermarket mufflers even add HP or is it just for looks and sound? if it really does *** maybe a muffler too) Keep in mind that I want low noise, you know the sleeper type car, no 5 inch exhaust **** for me. (well it dosen't have to be stock quiet...just not a DRONER if you know what I mean) with some HP gains.
If I do a budget y, no cat, quasi custom B pipe and factory muffler, what type of HP gains could I expect and what type of noise increase should I expect? I already have a K&N and polished pipe to the throttle body, and you can certinally hear that at WOT, but it's VERY acceptable if you keep your foot out of it.
That is about all I expect to do except maybe an under drive pully. I'd REALLY like to see some dyno slips with common mods that everybody here seems to do....can you get, say, 250HP out of a normally aspirated engine, can you do it without noise? I want to go Mustang GT hunting
TIA

well if you dont want noise and want 250 N/A horsies, get a 2k2

i dont think youll be seeing 250 at the wheels anytime soon on an N/A 4th gen...however, you can do a VI, intake, y pipe, cat/test pipe/b pipe, and stock or aftermarket muffler..that will be your closest bet, and you will still be some off of 250, about 20-30 hp short...and even with a vi, i doubt youll be killing any GT's

a y pipe, testpipe/cat, b pipe, and stock muffler would be your best bet for the quietest and most free flowing exhaust.....the y pipe will add some noise, the test pipe a little more, and the b pipe a little more, but it will not at all be drony or annoying if you keep the stock muffler....Aftermarket mufflers is just asking for annoyance

So what does it take to go Mustang hunting? NOS? Super charger? If you add up all the HYPE for the aftermarket parts you should be able to get 250 N/A That's what I thought tho.....it's all Bullsh1t. There is the reason for wanting to see some dyno slips to see what kind of HP each part actually makes. Well I want the most HP for the lowest cost......guess it time to look at NOS!

Killing the earth is not worth 1 extra HP from the test pipe. You could get a bpipe from WSP for 170, which will probably perform better than the one you friend is making.
