IDEAL mileage from a full tank of gas?

If your travelling mountainous road, then their is definitely no way you can break 500 (you means anyone that tries it).
If you say you did it, then I can't prove you wrong. I just don't believe it.

I drive 120miles /day usually around 70-75mph just to get back and forth to work in my Max. Ive been keeping track of gas mileage lately as prices have gone higher and higher. Ive found that with "Super Unleaded" filled to the point the pump will not allow any more fuel to be put in I can go about 420 miles. From that point it usually only takes about 16.2 gallons to fill it back up to max again. With "Regular Unleaded" I usually get to about 380miles. yeah yeah...i know... dont use regular....

Maybe it's got something to do with running Canadian gas. I suspect that if I was driving on the prairies and wind wasn't a factor that I could get even better mileage. And I still have the OEM original plugs in the car at 59,786 miles.
I'm also running the OEM Goodyear Eagle RSA 215-60R-15 tires and the 15" sawblades. So many .orgers are running 18" or 19"s and 235 plus tires, so no wonder their fuel economy suffers.
I also wonder if the road surface has anything to do with it. Our highways in Canada are asphalt, not that noisy crap you use in much of the US.
When I switch to synthetic oil in 3,000 miles I anticipate even better fuel economy.
My straight city driving is nothing to write home about - say 350 miles to a tank when down to fumes.
I just made a trip from Eugene, Oregon to Lake City, Washington and back and got almost 300 miles from a hair over half a tank, usually with the highway city mix to work and back i get about 100 miles per quarter tank, I always fill up at a quarter tank.

I added KN filter, changed fuel filter, spark plugs with ngk platinum, pcv valve which was plugged like crazy, and my mileage didnt seem to improve at all. about 24 on highway, 20 in city/some highway. I do get a knock sensor code but bypassed it with a 470k resistor so that should get my timing right with prem 91 grade. In fact after the changes I got 19, worse than I had before. I also cleaned the TB, so what could I be missing here to get the mileage up? I think I have done everything I read to do including adding injector cleaner, and still no luck. (The prev owner had been using regular but I am on the 6 or 7th tank of prem but dont think that should matter by now?)
Well, I FINALLY took my car on the highway for a trip longer than 30 miles. Up until now, I had no idea what kind of mileage I could get on the highway. After going 158 miles at 80 and with the AC set on "Antartica," the car registered a little less than 27 mpg.
I can lived with that....

Ok so normally I get 300-330. This last fill up I watched myself and didn't floor it at all for the first 1/2 tank and cleared 250 miles. Then I got sloppy, the last half only lasted until 300. Thats right 1/2 tank for 50 miles. I do drive 50 round trip in stop and go traffic.

I drive 110 kmh in a 100 zone and 120 kmh in a 110 zone. Anything above that would not be tolerated by the RCMP. So I cruise at 70 or 75 mph depending on the speed limit and occasionally air it out for awhile, but pick my spots carefully.
Slow down and enjoy the scenery.

I must admit that about 12 years ago, I drove back to BC from Las Vegas over the Mojave via Bakersfield and on up. I said to hell with it after being passed like I was standing still my every man and his dog, so I went with the flow at about 90 mph. I didn't see anything that resembled a police car.
And you're right, the scenery can be pretty bleak. It reminds me of Las Vegas to Reno - cactus, sage brush and jack rabbits at night, lol!
I wouldn't try that in Oregon or Washington, however.

350 miles to a tank is less than 20 miles to a US gallon. The EPA estimate for highway is 27 for a 5-speed and 28 for an automatic, which I can better with my 5-speed.
i hate you ppl with them 400+ miles per tank.
I struggle to get to 350. i'm right near 20mpg. 40% highway 60% city. But highway stand stills are killing me. I've done nothing in regaurds of tune up yet. So i'll see after i get all my stuff done if i can break 400
