y-pipe and intake are all I have for perf mods, but I do have an O2 sensor CEL on. the sensor isn't bad, but somehow two of the three wires snapped. And they are a bia to get too considering how they've snapped.

I've hit not quite 500 miles on a tank of gas before...although it doesn't happen that often, only on the highway. Usually I get about 375 or so, with around town driving (semi-rural/suburban NJ). Cruise control is a Godsend on the highway...

I usually get around 300 miles per tank when I fill up, but I haven't filled up recently because the gas here has gone up so much. I usually get about a 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank each time.

I've gotten 500 miles with 99% highway driving... otherwise with 75% highway I get about 440-460 on a full tank

lol I see a lot of you guys have lead feet

I just do not see how anyone could get 400 or 500 gallons with less than 99% highway driving. Even on the highway I've never gotten higher than 24.5 mpg. That would get me a little more than 400 miles on 17 gallons or so. Even lightfooting it I can't get much more than 340 miles before the light's been on long enough to scare me into buying gas. Man gas is expensive. I tried buying the cheap stuff for more volume, but the car complains. Duh, though. But I'm like if supreme is $1.90 a gallon here in Birmingham, Alabama, poor Cali, New York, and the rest of you big cities.

From philly, i drove all the way up to Jersey City, NJ (right outside holland tunnel) to get my hanabi HIDS from freddie. That tank (with full blast AC going) got me to almost 360. That was the most i've ever gotten. I do mainly city driving and average about 230 miles =o(

So how much do you usually have to put in after driving these 350 miles? Nismo, you got a ton of mods, don't you? How much highway driving do you do?

25 MPG before knock sensor replacement (80% highway, 80 mph, AC on 1/2 time). 27 MPG after. 18.5 gallons * 27 = 499.5 miles per tank.

I just took my second road trip since tuning my car this past winter and it really make a big difference. I got 520 miles on a tank and refilled it with 17.25 gallons. Yes the gas light was coming on and yes I do fill my tank until it's over flowing. Hey, that's the difference in making to the next exit in your car or making it to the next exit on foot. In the city, usually just fill my tank every week so I really don't know what the city miles are right off hand.

A good tune-up make a world of difference.

I live in NYC, drive maybe 65% city, 35% highway w/ some traffic. Before I did anything to my car, I was getting around 200 mpg, which is just plain fu*ked up(I did use the AC a lot but still). I recently had a tuneup, replaced the air filter, got those spark plugs that work best with max's and used a serving of Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner, and i'm just waiting to see how many miles it'll take me.

I can't stress the difference in how my car performed once I changed the fuel filter and had a fuel injection cleaning done. A drop in K&N air filter may or may not have contributed.

I don't know if this reply matters anymore. It is an old post. But I am surprised at all your gas mileages. Highway driving, without using AC I can get up to 500 MPG! Some of you replied with about 300 and even below... You must be talking about racing in the rush hour traffic.
Maxima's tank holds 18 Gal, if I am correct. So 500 / 18 = 28MPG. And I think you can do better if you average close to 60 MPH (almost impossible, unless you are 90 years old).

i think our cars hold 16.5 gallons, not 18 so u are actually doing better than 28 mpg which is very weird.

Speaking of which, i am very upset at my car. I have been driving like a panzy for the past week shifting under 3k, and like 3 times the whole week i did a strong shift past 3k. yesterday i got the yellow light and to my dissappointment seen my odomoter reading at 290 miles. 290 miles from a full tank of gas AFTER chaning a freaking 02 sensor and fuel filter. WTF MAN! this is so

Someone told me he seen results from a changed 02 sensor after his 3rd refill but i cant drive like this anymore...not all the time...dam man, i was hoping for about 320 miles...i was doing mostly city driving (85% city, 15% highway) but i expected much better. Think i may have to change other 02 sensors...

Fuel tank capacity is 18.5 gallons. 320 to 340 is what I get. I drive about what you do, 85/15 city/hwy, maybe a little more highway. I've never gotten more than 350 before I've had to just get gas. I get 20 mpg. 21 if I've been light footing it.

Hey zealotnyc, with your having to make more frequent stops in nyc than I do in the city where I live, Birmingham, AL, you would get less than I do. Thing is for me, when I'm driving mornings and evenings, driving on the interstate is like driving on the city streets with all the stopping, slowing down, and accelerating. So I'm happy when I get 20 mpg. I got a tune up and my mileage changed none. I seriously think I didn't really need a tune up. People talk about the car adapts to run correctly even when it has a problem and blah blah blah. Whatever. From now on, I'm not getting a tune up unless the thing is just not running right. With 85K now, I suppose 150K is a good tune up time for me.

I get pretty consistent mileage. When I drive relatively mellow I get a scooch over 300 miles to a tank (315-330). When I drive like a maniac I get just under 300 (280-295).

Do you mean you got the real Fuel Injection cleaning done like at the shop? Or did you just use the pour in tank "quick clean"?
I just calculated it and at my worst mpg was around 12....that is seriously some facked up shiet, that's like a hummer or something

According to the gentlemen who I bought my Max from, he said he got 27MPG on average with it.

I've only been tracking total km's on a full tank.

Last full tank got me a lowly 420km's on 92 octane with mostly city driving. My friend borrowed it and he said he floored it half way from downtown to his place to get his keys..damn him

So far with a full tank of 94 octane, I just hit 300km's and I also just past the halfway line. Hoping to see something close to 500km's damnit..

Man that's about the funniest thing I've read on this site in a long time. Friggin 12 mpg?! You're supporting terrorism!

But for real yo, does anybody know how a clutch affects gas mileage? I know that I need a pressure plate and will probably need a whole new clutch in a while. As long as I remain unemployed I plan to run this clutch until it don't work no mo'. That would keep me in first the whole time, right? That should be fun. I got a 0807 ECU code and a 0111 code (EVAP casister purge control valve circuit fault and EVAP purge flow monitor fault, respectively). The 0111 comes and goes when I check it every now and then. 0807 has been there every time I've checked the code. That's another thing I'm waiting to fix. Yout think this stuff is hurting my gas mileage?

Yes I mean the kind of fuel injection cleaning you go to a shop and get. Not the one that they actually remove the injectors though, the kind when they run some chemicals through the injectors. Works for me, that and the fuel filter and oh yeah, the throttle body..got to clean that. My car is an auto and I drive no less then 65 70 around town and no more then 79 on the highway and that seems to work well for me

When I use 93 octane I was getting around 330 miles to the tank. With gas prices being what they are I put in 89 octane in and noticed no difference in performance, no pinging and I am now getting around 390 miles to the tank. Thats just my 2 cents

I've been able to get over 28mpg consistently ... but only when I drive conservatively. Highway driving 85% with cruise control around 75mph. Easy on the pedal from a stop, instaed of mashing the pedal.

I hear you on that one. I'm 16 so that's normal lol. When my dad drove it he got around 310-330. With me now driving the '95 SE (137K) I get 260-280. But I have reduced my right foot, need to save gas since being a bus boy at Shoney's doesn't it pay that great lol.

I have had my car for a month and everytime I try and figure out my mpg I, or someone else, acidentally pushes the stupid reset button. Hopefully I will actually figure it out someday. It is starting to become a joke. The harder I try to stay away from the stupid button the more I hit it.

Why does your gas guage stay at full for a while when you fill up?

The "float" inside the tank is all the way up and submerged when the tank is full. The level of gas in the tank has to drop to the bottom of the "float" before it can start dropping.

Around 300 to 350 in the city. Less if i drive with the air on. Highway is about 400+ with a few gallons left. Btw.. any one ever run out of gas? My needle is like right on empty and when i fill up.. it only fills for like 16.5 or 17 gallons. Our tank is 18.5 (98 max).... so there is always gas in the tank. How far can u guys go when needle is on empty?

oh and i just put some cheap a$$ premium gas in my car, 93 octane but cheap gas station, filled for like 25 bucks, 1.72 a gallon, my gas mileage is so bad with it, cheap a$$ gas, i was halfway with only 122 miles in, very disgusting

2 Weeks ago the car was on empty. The light was on and everything. My dad took it to the gas station and it usually takes about $22 worth. It took $27!!! It was running on fumes I'd say. My dad didn't tell me how many gallons it took, but it had to be pretty damn close!

mecca why do u refuse to check the MPG the proper way? you will never actually know how fuel efficient or in-efficient ur car is unless you actually do test it out, so try it, divide the number of miles traveled since ur last fill up by the number of gallons filled up and u'll get an ACCURATE reading

My car has 121k on it. I just got a little over 300 miles on my last tank of gas, about 19.4 mpg. This was mostly city driving. This is the best I have seen in a long time. I changed my plugs a couple of weeks ago(NGK). When my KS was bad my car went as low as 220 miles per tank, about mid 13 to 14 mpg. I wish I could get the mileage a lot of you are gettin, but I will take the 305 and be happy. The Max still has the original O2 sensors, and I have no codes. The only code I ever got was the KS, and it has not returned since I put in the new one.
