what does this statement mean? I've been reading up on it, and i was curious. If this is important (legally), then which intakes ARE CARB approved? thanks

CARB is the California Air Resource Board or something like that. CARB-approved means the part is emissions-legal in the state of California. If you're not in Cali then it doesn't matter at all.

I'm not sure about that, Weasal . . .

I believe other states use C.A.R.B. guidelines to formulate their emissions laws, New York being one of them.

Stillen makes the only aftermarket intake for the Maxima that is C.A.R.B. approved, and then only up to the 1998 model. At this point it does not appear that Stillen is pursuing C.A.R.B. approval for the 1999 model or 5th Gens.
