Btw is it possible to put in the missing arrows and stars in the "Attaching the Mesh to the Grill" section?
I tried to but everything gets all messed up, I will try this weekend to figure it out.

NO problem on the link

mesh behind bumper

Blackcat,

when you remove the front bumper, how do you apply the mesh behind the front mouth opening? How does the mesh stay? Is it easy to remove the front bumper? I installed the buldge mesh grill to the front, and it looks awesome, now I want to do the mouth and the fog light openings ( I have no fog lights GXE). Thanks for your great instructions.

Thanks Gramdacious!

I didn't have to remove the front bumper at all. The mesh is in front of the mouth opening.
When you look at the mouth opening you will see some vertical slats. I think that there are about 4 of them. Do the cardboard thing with the mouth just like the grill. The mesh will be supported by the vertical slats. I just zip tied the mesh at the top of the slats so you can't see them when you kneel down to look. I got a headache from lying on my back and zip tying the mesh.

You can use any kind of spray paint that's good for metal.
Just give it at least 2-3 coats followed by 2 coats of clear coat.

Actually I just finished. I too have a black max, and didn't paint the stainless mesh, I just gave it a couple of clear coats like you said, and wow, the front looks way more classy like a Jaguar. thanks again for all your info, I really appreciate it!

You're a good man black. Thanks from the .org.

P.s. Doing a how-to write-up takes longer than it seems, huh?

I've finally finished creating my step-by-step instructions in MS Word, complete with pictures. It is 3Mb in size. Hotmail will not take anything greater than 1024K maximum.

With a new job and all, I just don't have the time to make these on the side anymore and so I'm sharing the knowledge with you all.

Please note that this is only for the grill between the headlights. The small, narrow opening in the bumper can be done based on the steps I've written.

The fttp posted doesn't work anymore, so just post your email addy here and I'll send it to you.
Just wanted to say thanks for giving out these instructions, it looks great. I just started on this project..what a project it is..and have a few questions. Is it the same if I trace out the grill with the paper on the bottom? I did that, but it seemed more 'square' than your pic which is more rounded. When I cut out the paper trace, do I include the 2"? I was thinking about just leaving a small strip from the top of the trace up to the 2" mark, just because it says to flip the trace over on the cardboard and do it again. Thanks for your help

Exactly what I was wondering, thanks for the pic! The mesh I bought seems to have smaller holes than what you are showing...

The Home Depot mesh already comes pre-curved so you need to bend the grill a little bit more to get that curvature.

The paper trace would be the exact size of the opening and so you'll need to add an extra 3/8ths all around it and make that cardboard template.

Mesh in the fogs

Finally got my mesh installed in all but one opening. Since I don't have fogs, I thought I would try my hand at cutting out the opening where the fogs are supposed to be and putting mesh behind it. Since there's nothing to zip-tie the mesh to, I used a strong household cement to bond the mesh to the inside of the bumper opening.

Click here to view the results.
