RPM question

Hi people,

I change my spark plugs and the pcv value yesterday and when i turn on my car the RPM needle goes above one. Once the car is warm up the needle goes below one. Is this normal ? Any input is welcome. Thank you in advance.

Yes the stock Maxima engine idles higher 1 K ~ 1.5K rpms when its a cold start and then normally drops below 1K and stays around 750~850 rpms when it warms up.

cold start my car is 1-1.3k and when its warmed up its 500-600 is this normal? 500-600 seems very different from your 750-850

Not too abnormal. Some cars are slightly different.

I'm SC'ed, and I idle at about 650. I idled at 600 when I was stock.

If you clean your throttle body you'll notice an even bigger jump, depending on how dirty your TB was before. I cleaned mine after 100K miles. Before cold starts would happen at 1100 rpm. After the cleaning, 1500 rpm. Also, low end pickup was better, too.

Hmmm I went to clean my TB at 61k miles and found it to be quite clean. Honestly I havent had my car for a little while so I couldnt verify what it idles at, however I do remember it idling at about 750 rpms when I had it.
