I have added the stillen air intake and was wondering. I don't know what it is called but the stock piping that comes up from the bumper to the intake, does it really serve any porpose or can I take it out, or any other ideas?

 

I figure it elps lead in cool air from the front of the grill. It still channels in air to the filter from the bottom. Proof? Dirt and other debris collects there.

 

Also, if your Maxima is still under warranty and you ever need to take your car in to your dealer for service, you might want to put your stock intake back on first. That way your dealer can't point to your aftermarket intake as the cause of a problem that might otherwise have been covered under the warranty.
