rigged forced air?
rigged forced air?
i think i remember someone trying this but i couldnt find anything in search. i have a Place racing CAI and as many know the filter sits in the wheel well behind the fogs. i was thinking about rigging my stock plastic ram air thing back up with some extra piping and drilling another hole but lower. then the air from the ram air would be fed directly to the filter and still be cold as well. would this be a waste of time and drilling, and just be stupid, or should i give it a try.
any input would be apreciated. thanks

In my personal opinion, it would be a complete waste of time. That stock plastic will be again located next to the engine. The air that it picks up and forces toward the CAI will be heated up; consequently, lowering the effect of the cold air that is currently being introduced into the CAI. Although you will probably NOT notice any change in HP, you may loose like .00004 HP from this
. But, you can do this to make it "unique" from the other CAI owners...

heres my "dog collar" according to sprintmax
basically its just a ram air scoop to force cold air directly at the filter to help cool the under hood temps down faster and to constantly supply fresh air from outside.

ok, thanks a lot guys. i think i will just stick with what i have, not all worth all the work and even more drilling for something that will not improve performance. i could really give a sh*t about having a unique CAI, no one can see the filter anyways.
thanks to those who gave their input
and to nismo: very creative idea!

you know a more simple/cheaper route for you since you have fogs, is to cut a rectangular hole on the bottom of the plastic cover thats under the bumper and screw or rivet on a rectangular alluminum scoop so that the scoop will draw air straight into the fender well where the filter is. Im guessing its a $10,- 30 minute job that really works.
