O2 sensors...
O2 sensors...
Folks,
I found out that I have problems in my Front Left O2 sensors. The ECU gave a code 1001. I am planning to get it for myself and get one of the mechanics to replace it.
Do you guys recommend any vendor for O2 sensor? Is there any mechanic that you know of in Austin, TX area that can fix it. I need to be able to see my car when its worked on.
I have a 97 MAX GLE.
Thanks,

If the sensor you need to change is on the rear bank of the engine, first drop a string down the backside of the engine so that it dangles within reach from below. That way you can use it to pull the sensor harness up to where it connects to the main harness on top of the engine. The front sensor connector is easy to get at.
Re: Re: O2 sensors...
Steve,
I am planning to buy the part from expressautoparts.com. I am looking for Front Left Htd 02 sensor(ECU code 1001). I am new to this DIY thing. So I need help in locating and making sure that I am getting the right part. Can you validate that the link below is the right one?
* Go to expressautoparts.com
* Select Replacement in left menu
* Select 1997 and Nissan/Datsun and hit Go.
* Click on Maxima 3.0
* Type oxygen in the search field and hit Go.
* Click 'Oxygen Sensor...' on right
* Click on 'at header pipe inlet LH (radiator side)' link.
Is it the right part for ECU code 1001?
Thanks,

Why not do it yourself? Changing O2 sensors is not difficult at all, if you don't mind getting under your car. To remove the sensor, you can either use an adjustable crescent wrench or you can go to Autozone and borrow a special socket they have for O2 sensors. Be careful if you use a crescent wrench, the flats on the sensor are not too wide and it is possible to round off the corners if you don't adjust the wrench for a tight fit. Be sure to use anti-seize paste on the threads of the new sensor.
