Apexi WS + y-pipe = weird noise?

I have had this setup for about six months and there is a noticable noise with this setup. It doesn't sound like bees in a can and I can only hear it with the windows down and when I am next to another car, walls, houses, etc (anything that reflects the car's exhaust note). I have checked the whole exhaust system for leaks and all the bolts are secure. It this normal for this setup or do you guys think I have a problem. I appreciate your help.

I thought that the new WSP y-pipes didn't have the noise anymore. Obviously I'm wrong. Other than using header wrap, is there any other solution?

I've been in a Max with bees in a can and I could hear the noise in the car with the windows up. In my case, the car sounds fine with the windows up but when I put them down, you can hear it again. The best way to describe the noise is to compare it to an air cooled engine like an old VW or a Porsche. My friend's 84 911 has the same sound. Is the flex section to blame or is it just the combination of the y-pipe and the catback?

My pipe makes the same weird noise when the exhaust note is reflected off. I don't hear it when my windows are up either, but if I really try to hear it, it's faint. Need to make a call to wsp sooon..

when I have my windows down, I hear a slight hiss, but not real loud. only when I'm driving thought. not sitting in a parking lot. maybe that's what you're talking about.

wierd

I don't think that is specifically with aftermarket y-pipes. My mom's I-30 makes that noise, and I don't think she suped it up. Not that it helps the situation, just my 2 cents.

But you're not sure? Find out, and tell her to hang around here if she's looking for her next mod.

I think that I need to give the guys at WSP a call. The new y-pipes were SUPPOSED to get rid of the bees in a can problem. Obviously that's not the case

The new WSP pipes do NOT make the bees in a can sound...I have one...it makes the same sound that you describe....but it is nowhere NEAR anything to get annoyed about.

The pipe DOES what it is supposed to do....it gives you extra hp and doesn't LEAK....I don't think you should complain at all....just my .02
