Car not accelerating well from a stop

Well I'm not sure what the problem is, but if I'm stopped and then want to go...it doesn't get up and go that quick unless I gun it (in which case it well....goes really fast). But if I try to just pull out slowly it doesn't seem to do so well. It isn't jerking or anything...it just seems like I have to press on the pedal too much to get it going...or it takes a bit too long to get going. I hope I'm explaining this okay hehe.

I know I need to have some maintenance done on it...new fuel filter, PCV valve and spark plugs at least - not sure if/when they were replaced last since I bought the car used. I just want to get those things done as preventative maintenance kind of thing. Would one of these parts help fix this? Everything else is working fine, and if I'm already going I can give it a little gas and it will get up and go real good.

well...

Yes it's an automatic....but I've had a crappy 4 cyl car and a crappy 6 cyl car before and neither one was like this at all. Yeah there was a little bit, but it seems to be too much.

Your brakes may be sticking alittle bit...Raise your car and spin your rear wheels with your hand (with your e-brake off)...if you hear any noise or see and resisitance happening, you may have found your culprit...in the mean time, hit the gas alittle harder when you take off

yeah. Dont worry bro, I have the same problem. Im auto also, but I guess this is the way its supposed to be, and trust me, I hate it to. Its like you push the gass and it sounds like it revs a little bit then you feel 1 Jerk like it actually kicks in gear. My Brother told me thats when the Cams Kick in. But changin sparks, Fuel Filter, I did all that a month ago. Wont make a diffrence.

Peace

Well blah! Oh well. I just don't want to feel like I need to give it a lot of gas all the time to get going....gas mileage goes down :P

I posted this concern a while back. Search for a way to check the ECU for codes and check if it's a sensor that's screwed. In my case I just needed to clean out the fuel system including the throttle body. I haven't gotten around to cleaning out the TB (time is not on my side) but i ran injector cleaner through my fuel system and the initial acceleration got better. The throttle body cleaning should be the last thing holding back acceleration if you've tried all that other stuff.

Try a new air filter also, or some type of Intake. There's lots of stuff on here.

Search is your friend some hint keywords for search: Throttle Body, Injen, Frankencar, JWT, POP, Hybrid, Place Racing or PRCAI, Warpspeed, and there are many others... after a while here you'll appreciate all of this kind of help.

Clean the throttle body eh...I have no clue how to do that :P I'm not going to put any performance mods on my car quite yet. Mainly looking at a FSTB and RSB and some cosmetic stuff before I even think about performance modding :P Thanks for the suggestions.

Well the FAQs thread is a good place to look for how to clean TB and tune up your car. Try looking there and see what you can do.
