Sunroof Problem.....

Hi,
I have a 96 se with a sunroof...

Now the problem:

My sunroof motor seems to work fine it will tilt up, go down and slide in and out, but when i go to close the sunroof the fun starts.
The rear passenger corner of the sunroof dips down lower than it should. The driver side of the sunroof will be flush against the top of the car, but the other side drops lower (about a 1/4").
I have a feeling something broke , and its not supporting that side to where it should be.
Right now i have it tilted up slightly so it is sealed, although i would like to fix the problem permanently.
If anyone may know what is wrong, please send me some advice and a price to fix this problemm, if known.

Thanks

I don't know if this is any help but a friend of mine has an audi A4 that did the same thing. It was one of the metal brackets on the side. He took it somewhere and they fixed it for like 50 bucks.

Sounds like one of the cables is broken. Same thing happened to me but on both sides. There is a sunroof repair kit you can get from a Nissan dealer and it isn't too expensive either. I'm at school right now so I'll get back to you with the part number by 2pm EST.

I need to upload an new picture with the partnumber. The part should be $43 from Clay Nissan here in MA.

nwmma: I'm still working on the writeup on the sunroof repair(trying to balance time to get it done). I repaired my cousins roof because he was having the same problem. The dealer wanted to charge him $900 to fix it and this job will only take you about 4 hours total.

Make sure you do the job yourself and have a friend help.

There is information on this in the 4th gen FAQ.Pics of my cousin's sunroof rebuild

Not many know about it. Even my dealer didn't know much about it until I forced them to call up Nissan. That's how we found out it does exist. Sounds like your dealer is lazy on lookin it up cause it comes up in our computers everytime. Hope you can find it. Oh, and my dealer is called Nissan of Turnersville for reference sake.
