*Help* ...replacing a caliper...

I'm in the middle of replacing one of my rear calipers, and i'm also putting in speed bleeders and flushing out the brake system. I just need to know how tight should the speed bleeders be and also how tight should the bolt for the fluid line (banjo bolt??) on the caliper be? anybody have numbers for ft.lbs. torque? thanks to all who respond.

I don't have #rs for ya.. but keep in mind that those fittings are brass. Thats soft metal, so go easy on them. Just snug them up good, don't go nuts on them.

IIRC bleeders should be in the neighborhood of 50 in-lbs (NOTE INCH POUNDS!).

For the banjo bolt I usually get it snug, then about a quarter turn. I would guess 20-25ft-lbs tops.

Also, before you try to tighten the bleeders, make sure you have a flare nut wrench. A socket or normal wrench will strip the head of the bleader in NO time.

According to the '99 FSM, the rear banjo bolt is 17-20 ft/lbs and the bleeder is 7-9 ft/lbs.
