Custommax.com racing pipe- anybody try one?
Has anybody purchased one of these yet? Was wondering if it really produced 11 hp or any gain, and more importantly how did it effect the sound of your exhaust? I will be running frankencar intake/ budget y/ maybe racing pipe/ stock canister. Anyone running that combination? Thoughts on how that combo will sound? Thanks.

I got a "test pipe" on e-bay shipped for 25 bucks. It didn't change my exhaust tone at all (but i only have a muffler on stop b-pipe which i have to add sounds great, its quiet most of the time, but deep under wot, and rumbles at 2.5 - 2.7k rpms. I can't say i felt a difference in HP either. But i haven't tracked, or dyno'd my max yet so who knows. I can tell you that if your cars like mine, you're bolts will be damn near if not impossible to get off the cat because of rush. I had to take it to a shop and have them melt them off. Cost me 50 bucks too which ****ed me off.

Just get a high flow cat. Emissions testing is coming to everyone sooner or later. You will be ****ed off when you have to put your original cat back on at that point (if you can even find it then). Unless you have a propane torch at home, you will have to spend labor twice at a muffler shop to remove those rusty bolts...

Compare to an OEM cat with over 100K miles on it, yes there will be gains. 11hp is possible. Compare to a brand spanking new OEM cat, maybe 1-2HP.

You wont get 11hp from a test pipe.

Nothing some anti-seize compound wouldn't prevent. I had a RT cat before and that was a waste of money.

Which pipe did you go with? How much? Did you notice a big difference in sound?
