Shaved Trunk Question

After you got all of the glue off, did anyone notice a different color from where the emblems where? Like an outline? If so, is it still there? I washed, buffed, scrubbed....do I need touch-up paint?

it's gonna be a little discolored, but it should go away .. it's because the part behind the letters has not been exposed to the sun since it was a baby in it's mothers woom

Worse come to worse you can try the touch up paint but go easy with it so you dont over do it.

take off the emblems, use some goo gone, wash the trunk with dish washing detergent (to remove all the wax) and then rewax the trunk

I used a good Meguiars polish and a buffer, worked excellent when I shaved the door trims off my 88 and shaved the rear on my 97.

Only technicality is if you ever had your rear end in an accident and the paint shop opted to just cover the MAXIMA letters and paint the trunk, in that case, it's impossible to match without just painting the trunk again...had someone run into that before, wasn't too pleased either.

Go to any car wash and give them $10, they will buff it off and make it look good. Thats what I did.
