which angel eyes set should i make... pics
well if you guys know the red-out mod that i did (3 bucks) you'll know after all the performance mods i've done, i'm cheapin out and trying to be "original" as possible... altho this isn't my idea, but my friends. For under 20 bucks, radio shack and some home depot materials, i can make angel eyes. Here are the photoshops i have attempted and also a "prototype" my friend attempted. I don't know the instructions myself yet, but i'm just gonna try this first.
Yes.... i'm a very bored person, after my in-car PC project, i need to get myself busy w/ the maxima again lol.. if i don't like em, i'll end up taking em out.

You're going to put in random circles of light in your headlights that don't look anything like the reflector? Okay.... don't get me wrong, I think it would look great if the circles actually framed something.

man that is freakin awesome... Yeah, how hard would it be to somehow use reflective material to mold something on there that the angel eyes could frame. I personally like the bottom pic better as to differentiate from BMW. Can they be done with a whiter color, or close to blue?
Hmmm...hell, i'll even put together some mirrors in there if i have to...lol

BTW, yeah, the instructions i ended up gettin from my friend are from the honda CRX website. It's quite ingenious, requires getting one of those acrylic rods from home depot (hexogon clear shaped rod u use for blinds), then you heat it up in the oven, mold it into a circle, and then use a dremel to make cuts for the light to be refracted into. Anywho, yeah i'm going to try this for myself today. I'll post pics of how i do and some of the procedures.
Hmm, i'm sorry, i don't understand when you're talking about the reflector part... I think in my case, it wouldnt matter because i've got the foggy lenses so i can't see **** w/ em off. When they're on, however, i'm hoping for them to look decent... *crosses finger*. I think the hardest part is taking the headlights apart...
YES, they can be done w/ any color you want... just get the right color LEDs you want! =)

Why wouldn't they look bright? If it's around sunrise/sunset or night, they would definately be visible. I'm just worried about the foggy lenses.... you probably can't see the actual lines, but the rings should be visible. I plan to use yellow LEDs to match my headlights... and probably also put in red LEDs and have a switch to swap between the two. If they look good, ill wire the power source to the corner lights.

nadir..
what do you plan on mounting the lighting fixtures to and where do you plan on running all of the wires so they are hidden?
i dont know if you have taken apart a maxima headlight before, but #1 it is not an easy task, i have done it 3-4 times and its always fun and #2 there is not much room, especially to mount 2 rings in there...
i would love to see you get this done, because my headlights would be in the mail today if you had it done.. just wanted to see if you had thought about a few things.
take care..

I haven't opened up the headlights before so i'm assuming you put the whole fixture in the oven, heat it up, and then remove em apart? Can u gimme some advice, how hot the oven should be, do i gotta re-glue it back together, etc etc. Thanks!

3 questions...1)Would the plastic rings actually be glued to the inside of the headlight lens? ...or how would that work? 2)How would you connect one end of the circle to the other after you cut and shape the plastic rod? glue? melt it? hmmmm and 3) where would you mount an LED so the wires wont be visible nor will be the tiny bulb?

this has been some what asked in different ways, but angel eyes, particularly on bmw's and that crx, are mounted inside headlights with projector beams. they're mounted right on the outside of the projector itself. i too was thinking about doing this, but i was thinking if i had just placed the rings inside the headlight, it would look funny to look in and just see two rings hanging out there not mounted to anything really. just my .02

I'm hoping i can do a good enough job to hide it. I'm sure they won't be as visible during the daytime w/ the lights off.

All the problems you're telling me i will encounter when installing it... i have no idea if there's even space in there for em. I'm gonna do it all on the fly and take my time. I'll let you know what were the best methods and such. Trust me, i don't intend on doing a sloppy job. wish me luck

p.s. taking apart the headlights is easy. i just did it a couple weeks ago to do the AE headlight mod.
preheat oven to 230 degrees
put in the headlights for 15 minutes.
take a flathead an GENTLY pry between the glass and the plastic housing. you might chip the glass but its hardly noticeable.
if they arent hot enough then throw them back in the oven.
to get them back together you can take a heat gun and get the glue hot then press the glass and housing back together tightly.
the only reason i didn't use a heat gun is because it was too hard to heat up the housing evenly and pry it apart at the same time.
GOOD LUCK!

I used the oven method to heat my tails to get them apart to clear them. It worked great for me but somebody left theirs in a little to long and the plastic started to melt and distort so be careful.
Good luck with this mod, it looks great. BTW I like the two rings the same size.
