What is required for rear spoiler removal?
I have a touch of surface rust around one of the inside pillars on my trunk lid. Anyway, I want to take the spoiler off tonight to chip away the bubbled paint, do the needed corrections, and put the spoiler back on. I have a question. I can see how the spoiler is removed on the inner pillars (nuts/bolts), but what about the outside two? The Haynes manual doesn't touch on the subject. Thanks.

my advice to you is take the trunk lid off first..
then you will have 4 nuts.. 2 on each side of hte spoiler.. you will have to remove the carpet to get to the bolts.. and you will need an angled socket to get to the nut..
watch out.. the inner side of the trunk is very sharp.. and gave me a deep wound when futzing with it..

I've peeled the carpet back before and have seen where the bolts are. What about the two outside pillars? Do they help hold the spoiler to the trunk too?
And has anyone else done this type of fix to their trunk lid? Repairing rust around where the spoiler mounts to the lid? Thanks again

I think the outside pilars are actually Tabs.. you will have to pry them.. i would use a butter knife to slightly lift the end of the spoiler to see ..
I havn't done that per say.. i only did this to install a spoiler on my GXE
