Help a newbie!!!!!

Hi all,

My buddy let me drive his max, supercharged, bunch of other goodies, and I still can't sleep at night. Please, I need somewhere I can go to learn about this stuff. I have been reading a lot of the posts and most of it is greek to me. I have a decent picture of what I would like to get.

springs, intake, exhaust, and a y-pipe.

The only problem is that my '96 has 120,000+ miles, now my question is, should I go ahead and get a new motor, or will that be a waste of money? I have not had any success finding a decent place that sells the VQ30DE. I saw one for $600 but it had 75K. Any advise at all would be greatly appreciated.

120,000 the motors just breaking in. Assuming it's had regular oil changes and other maintenance I would just mod away and save money towards a motor or another day. I wouldn't replace the motor until I needed to. If I were to mod my car all over again, I would do it in this order: lowering springs and struts first, then a FSTB, then a y pipe and finally a RSB. Depending on your tastes an intake can be made relatively cheaply and can be done right away. Fyi, I began modding my 95 about 50,000 miles ago and I am currently at 140,000 and haven't had any major problems.

i have approximately 122k miles (or 195k kilometers) and I haven't done a single engine mod yet, but as soon as I find another job I will do all the mods I can. I've been here a whileand have seen nothing but praise for the VQ motor. they will last a lifetime if maintained properly so, I so mod your heart out!

That motor is just breaking in. You probably have at least another 100k miles on that engine. Mod away!
