SE/GLE door panel question- fuzzy insert
SE/GLE door panel question- fuzzy insert
I have a Q. about the SE/GLE door panels, under where you all have the fuzzy door inserts, how are they attached? are they just glued to the panel? or are they a seperate part like how the leather insert is?
What Im trying to do is because I have a gxe with nothing on there, I want to make some vinyl to go there but Im just wondering whats the best way to attach it.

MaxedOut makes custom inserts that look just like leather and come in many colors, they fit perfect too.
Took me a couple hours to glue the inserts on and tuck the edges in around the existing insert. Now my doors look sick and I have NO more grey cloth anywhere. Only cost me $39 shipped too!!!

They are part of the door, not separate like the leather inserts are. I wanted to do the same thing as you to complete my black leather interior swap, the grey cloth inserts were killing me.

I know what your talking about but I already have custom door inserts like what Maxedout sells, BUT. what I was talking about is the part at the bottom of the doors, like below the window switches are.

i went to an auto upholstery store and picked some out that looked like it would work. i used a big sheet of newspaper taped to the door to create a template for the fabric pieces. bought some 3M spray adhesive from an auto parts store to stick it on with. only problem is, the fabric i got is too thick and it sticks out weird. didn't look very good so i removed it. i plan on trying it again, but i think the trick is going to be a VERY THIN type of fabric.
if you can get it to work, please let me know how it turns out. i'd love some advice.

The fuzzy fabric is glued to the door panel. It will come right off with little effort. It leaves the glue residue behind it. I would suggest covering up the area with say Shadows Aluminum door kit or something like that. That glue may be quite hard to take off, but I do not know though.
To answer your original question. The fuzzy thin carpet type of clothes materials were glued on to the door panel on SE/GLE's with Leather package.
But I have Wood Trim down there now..
