factory idler pulley...how to install it correctly?
When you put the factory idler pulley in, should you push the idle pulley up and then tighten the nut? I ask this because if I don't push it up, it seem like it would scrap against the bolt that hold down the mounting plate. Should I fully tigten up the idler pulley nut then proceed to tighten the adjusting nut to tighten up the belt?
You mean tensioner pulley, right?
Sounds like you didn't pull the pulley "stud" out far enough... It is machined so that it slides along... It (the stud) needs to be turned correctly so it will pull out further away from the bracket.
Make sure that the nut on the axis of the pulley is loosened before attempting to adjust the upper "nut"... If you don't you'll strip/break it...
IIRC, it is reverse threaded so CW lengthens (tightens the belt).
Don't forget to retighten the nut on the pulley or you'll loose it.
