4th gen. bucks and dies

Two or three minutes after starting a warm engine there is a pulsing loss of power, as if ignition shorted or bad fuel pump (not). Engine power pulses on and off in 1/2 second to one second intervals- somewhat inconsistantly. Sometimes this continues for a couple of minutes and then everything does back to normal. Other times engine dies--can be restarted--dies again. Sometimes get check engine light, sometimes not. Throws both 0102 MAF and 0304 KS codes and resetting ecu solves the problem---until the next time, which may be a few minutes or a few hours. This problem has never occurred on first cold start in the morning--even when driving 50 miles or more. But it happens almost every day on 2nd and subsequent starts. Local shop says knock sensor and MAF check OK on meter. Injectors, fuel pressure, etc. check OK. No other codes thrown. I'm stumped. Power, idle and reponse is normal otherwise. Gets regular routine maintenance. 165k miles. O2 sensors replace at 100k miles. Any ideas?

Definitely sounds like a bad MAF. The 3.5L guys have been having some similar trouble/symptoms with theirs and the problem is always the MAF.

Hey, did you guys know that the car has a MAP sensor, too? Its only used for diagnostic purposes, but I thought that it was kinda cool that we had it. Found out from my trusty Haynes Manual.

I thought the MAP sensor was for the navigation systems.
