I've come to the conclusion that I'm one of the only ones that like the bees in a can sound. Most of the .org members can't stand it but I love it. I mean there are a few times where it gets irritating. Particularly going up a long hill, but besides that I love hearing that sound. I think that sleeper cars are boring. I don't care about a stupid kid that wants to race and thinks he can win, then finds out he got killed by some car that would've beat him stock.
I want to have power and let people know I have power.

There's a difference between being loud and bees in the can.

well my car is quite loud. I don't really know what it sounds like from the outside so I guess I can't say it sounds like bees in a can but I know it's loud.

Really, how menacing does the sound/power get in a n/a Maxima (reading profile at least)? Fear my low-15 second fwd beast?
I've never heard what a 13-sec or lower max sounds like in loud form, but even if it's loud I'd want quiet on the streets. I'm not out trying to prove anything or show off when I'm driving to and from work really. All that attention brings too much added chance for vandalism/theft for me...attn from the stereo gets me worried enough, and I park in a garage. I guess some people want attn/care what others think about their ride more than others.

I like loud, but the kind I like is big-engine-at-the-track loud.

Well actually I have just a straight pipe from the cat to the muffler. I had bought a muffler, but it was just a muffler for any car not specifically a maxima so when the guy put it on he had to add new piping so the sound is loud cause now there is no resonator but the piping is almost 3" though. That's really the reason it's so loud. I want to get the cattman catback but that stuff costs so much freaking money. So I have this for now. If I ever get a clip of what it sounds like I'll post on the .org for you to here.

Get a muffler with a silencer. That way you have the best of both.

It's very hard to get the VQ exhaust to sound good because of the nasty firing order of the VQ. The last thing I want on my Maxima is a loud and raspy exhaust. I want a nice sporty sound and is pretty much inaudible at a cruise, doesn't resonate, and doesn't hiss. On a 4-door sedan, I don't see much point in making it loud. Loud does not equal fast. Loud does make you feel like you're going faster though.

Exactly and that's the whole point. How you feel. I know it doesn't make you faster and I know what cars I can beat and can't beat. But I just think it makes driving more fun.
