maxspeed and h&r springs

ok before you say this, i already searched for a few days.

im considering buying either of the two springs, and they are both currently going in group deals, so im gonna jump on one of them.

maxspeeds 84 + shipping
h&r's 184 shipped

now i know a lot about h&r's from the forum, about how they are german engineered and progressive. 1.5" drop in the front and 1.3" in the rear.

however, maxspeed has the same drop, now are they progressive springs as well??
if so what is the difference between these springs other than price?

thanks, Dev

I had both and prefer the MaxSpeeds mostly for the eveness of the drop and the price.

Ditto, and I'm pretty sure they're progressive as well as German engineered.

BTW, does "German engineered" necessarily mean better?

Thanks,
RL

thanks for the replies guys

wizza - i went to your site previously, but my car has stock rims without a kit, so its hard to compare the looks of how my car would look with the springs. the kit and rims put you ahead

vesaijan - i guess german engineering doesn't make a difference, however i've heard nothing but good things about h&r springs.
and how sure are you that maxspeeds are progressive?

or do you know how i can find out?
i searched and didn't find this info.
i definitely want progressive springs.

I have Maxspeeds and I like how they are somewhat lower in front than in rear so the car rakes slightly vs. H&Rs which have a close to even drop front and rear.

That said, I have noticed that the finish quality on the Maxspeeds are not as nice as the other springs I have had in the past. The paint on the Maxspeed springs chips off very easily. Don't know about H&Rs, but I have never had this same problem with 3 sets of Eibachs and 1 set of Suspension Tech and 1 set of Eibach ERS springs.

I guess you get what you pay for. But, other than the finish quality, I am satisfied with my Maxspeeds. They give improved performance and looks, are relatively comfortable and very streetable.

You can't go wrong with either.
