Different starting problem........
This is not a starter noise question.........
My problem is this.....when turning ign key to "start"...... nothing happens, release back to "run".... turn back to "start".....nothing happens, release back to "run".....one more time to start and she turns over and starts normally.
When doing this all dash lights come on as to start. I hear a relay of some sorts clicking as well.
This does this pretty intermittantly......every 2nd or 3rd ign cycle.
Sometimes it will start on the second attempt, but never more than 3...
Changed my starter recently but it did it before this.
Is there some kind of switch in the column besides the actual ign switch?
Thanks in advance.......

sorta the same problem
We're having similar problems. Sometimes starts on first or second try, but when it doesn't and all the lights come on and try to start, we hear a single click under the hood or somewhere (not multiple click like battery problem), I'm reading the forums right now for answers, because sometimes we can't get it to start at all.

Auto or 5 Speed?
5 Speed, check the switch that the clutch pedal has to depress in order for the starter to engage. If it is failing, the condition you're describing can result.
Auto's, check the neutral and park posiiton switches.
Oldred: In your case, unless you've changed the starter recently, the solenoid next to the starter can be failing as well.

Hhhmmm.......Iwanna brings up a good point.
I have an auto and sometimes you can shift the car into gear without depressing the brake. Im sure there is an adjustment for this....maybe that could be part of the problem......
Will have to check into that
