power steering pump giving out?
i was loosing ps fluid over a course of a week and found a broken hose. I changed that and thought it was fixed but now it's leaking even faster. I had the car power jacked the other day to look at the suspension (unrelated to leakage) and saw the whole underside stained with fresh, dripping ps fluid. i had no time to look further but i think it is coming from the hub to which the rod from the steering wheel is connected. there are a bunch of steel hoses around there so you can't tell what is actually leaking unless you take it apart.
now though, i feel my steering going heavy, and the assist slightly cutting out when i try to steer fast on concrete and such. when steering at idle also dips my rpm and can cause my engine to cut (especially if you lock it to the right). and there is a groaning noise at times too. So i am not sure if it's the pump (doubt it's the belt..) or just the leak causing the system to loose pressure (i keep adding fluid ).
anyone has any ideas?
it's a 95 gle ~86000 miles
