96 se factory alarm Question

I bought my car at auction and its got the factory alarm...but i also noticed a switch under the dash to shut off and reset the alarm located in kick panel on the drivers side, is this a normal thing or is it part of another alarm system...

That sounds aftermarket or dealer-installed to me. My factory "alarm" has no such switches ('99).

A switch under the dash to shut off and reset the alarm located in kick panel on the drivers side is definetly an aftermarket alarm system.The Maxima do not have one.
