tranny fluid, brake fluid, rotate tires. not sure what else...my local dealership doesn't do the pcv for 30k service...and they don't offer a 60k. I don't think i'll change mine, but i'm doing everyting you're doing...hopefully by mid dec i'll be done.

I wouldn't do numbers 7 and 8.
Rest of the stuff I would recomend you to do yourself.
With a repair manual and .org SEARCH option most of the stuff is easy to do.
Tranny flush you can do at any TRANNY shop it's cheaper then the Stealer.

Just do them at your own pace on your own. You will save some decent money that way too. Most of the things are really not that bad and can be done relativly easy.

My '98 Maxima is about to hit the 60k mark. Is the 60k service even worth it? I keep up maintnence very well and will still change plugs..filters..ect. I haven't searched, but what exactly needs to be done or checked in the 60k tune-up?

When I took mine in they told me that I didn't have to change it out. I even said that the manuel said that it should be changed, but the guy was very insistant about it. He was/is a master tech from nissan and has his own shop that is registered with the BBB. I believed him for now.

I was told the same thing but figure if I change it now then I dont have to worry about it for a long time.

I guess the way the pcv is setup in Nissans cars is different from conventional methods. I am not sure how this is just what I was told.

I bought the pcv valve at autozone and a mechanic did it for $10. I tried but it's a real pain. Even the mechanic said it was a pain. BTW - the location shown in the chilton's manual is wrong.

Strange, I didn't find it hard at all to change the pcv valve. It actually took me all of 10 minutes to replace and it was my first time doing it.

Was the easiest part of the tuneup.

Just gotta know where it's located.

I'm just doing my 60k now - before this I've never even changed the oil myself before on any car- I've done spark plugs though..

So far I've done:
Oil change $23.95 for 5 qts Mobil1 Synthetic 5W30
Oil filter change $11 for Mobil1 oil filter

Waiting to do this weekend:
PCV Valve $3
Spark plugs NGK PFR5g-11 $65 shipped

I checked the belts and they've been done recently - I only bought the car 2 months ago.

I'll do the manual trannie fluid and top up brake/clutch.
