buying a used 95 - abs light on

hello,

I am considering purchasing a 95 maxima with 88,000 miles for 5750. The car seems perfect, except for the abs light being on. Could this potentially be an expensive repair? The owner claims it was never on before. It was previously garaged but is now outside on a lot, and since it has been very cold lately i was wondering if a sensor might simply be stuck. thanks for any help.

A repair to your SRS Safty system could be very expensive. Have the seller fix that problem first. I don't think you'll pass inspection with that light on either.

Make sure they provide records of the fix, as well. It's very easy to just take the bulb out of the dash.

could be nothing.. next time you get in it, it might be gone.. Gay GM has this problem with all of thier cars... Also check to see if it has enough brake fluid... could just be something simple.

I had this problem for over 2.5 yrs, it was fixed recently. All that time I thought it was an expensive sensor. Check the wires from your front driver-side fender wheel near the Brake Master Cylinder, it should have a connector, make sure its not loose, stripped, or whatever. Mines was halfway stripped, me and my buddy respliced it and electrical taped it and made sure it was secure. No more ABS light. Have a trusted buddy or mechanic to help look for the wiring.
