guys,
i hope that you all can help me out on this one. alrightey, i have a 95 max gle so that means i have o2 sensors in the top part of the air box and in the black tube with the maf screen. i disconnect the battery before i started all this. i was trying to remove the top part of the air box but i couldn't get to the screws so i removed the o2 sensor in the black tube with the maf screen. i still didnt' have access to the screws since i didn't have any monkey wrench with me. so i went ahead and tried to remove the base where the o2 sensor was attached to. it was pretty stiffed to remove so i yanked a little harder and then it came out. now i am afraid if i have disconnect some connections from that base to the black tube. i then went ahead and remove the rest of the airbox. i installed a generic maf adapter with a hole drilled for the o2 sensor on the top part of the air box and reinstalled o2 sensor with the base to the black tube to its original place. i then placed the cone filter on and reconnect the battery (after 2.5 hours). i then started the engine and there was no check engine light. i then revved the engine a little and the car started to shakes around 2500 rpm. so i undo all the cone intake and replace the stock airbox. restart the car and no check engine light. so i drove around a little. from 20mph to 40mph, the car gallops like a horse or bad stick driver. so i went home and disconnect the battery and hope that the car will reset itself after 5 hours. well, i connected the battery again and the same thing happened, gallopping down the street from 20mph and on. so i went home and went up the drive way, the car stalled. i couldn't drive forward anymore. so i had to back my car instead of going head first. so what do you guys think it is? sorry for the long post but i like to include the details so that you guys can help me out? did i do something really bad when i yanked out the base for the o2 sensor in the black tube? please help if you can. any ideas would help.

Did you try putting all of the stock stuff back in and plug the harnesses back in?

funny stuff happens when you play with the wires near the airbox. My only experience was back in 95 I tried to play with the intake while the car was running and the car started missing really bad when I began unplugging things. I kept the car running and put it all back together and it was fine again. I'd recommend putting stock back in and replugging the computer. Good Luck!

Maybe you aren't used to driving your car with an intake. You have to adjust the way you hit the gas. Either that or your car doesn't know what you did to it.

No, an intake, when properly installed, doesn't cause a car to miss or stall. You don't have to change the way you drive, either.

well, my stock airbox was put back in after the trial with the cone intake. i was able to drive the car a little for about 5 minutes and then it wouldn't go forward anymore. i don't know why it can go backward but not forward. i guess i will unplug everything and reinstall everything again. and does anyone know anything about the square base for the o2 sensor on the black tube? was it supposed to be removable from the black tube or did i messed up big time when i removed it? anymore ideas or inputs? thanks for your time.

I had the same problem before...

I eventually got a new MAF sensor...all the symptoms point to it being damaged.
