I hear that many people who lower their car lose the stock ride..I think that the best ride I've ever felt is on the Lexus RX300..you cant feel even the biggest pot-holes..is there a way to get that kind of ride on the Max..the stock feel is ok..what type of spring/shocks setup will preserve or even make the ride feel even better while lowering?

That's not possible. The RX300 is a jacked-up SUV with lots of wheel travel- exactly opposite of a lowered performance sedan. The best that you can do is to use H&Rs to preserve the factory ride.

I don't notice many more bumps with my progressive sports springs. I just put them on this weekend. They are great. The car looks and handles much better.

I agree, I think H&R's will be a good soft performance spring

As for obtaining a good ride. You could get luxury shocks, and larger profile tires with smaller wheels. You will then go in the opposite direction in tuning you suspension for performance. I'd say H&R's and Tokicos or KYB will retain a comfortable ride.

H&R's will not preserve the factory ride. Believe me, I have H&R/Tokicos. You can't really have a smooth ride with good handling, unless you get a BMW.

If you get the H&R setup, make sure you get aftermarket struts and shocks too. But don't expect stock ride. If you get 17" rims, the ride will be even worse, but I feel it is worth the performance benefit.

The Maxima doesn't have a smooth ride to begin with, even when stock. If you ride in an Accord or Camry, then ride in a Maxima, the Maxima's ride feels downright harsh! I've ridden in an RX300 too, but found the ride a little more bumpy than a Camry, which has like a perfectly smooth ride. It's simply amazing...how potholes and speedbumps simply dissapear when you're sitting in a Camry.

Lets just put it this way. People dont buy maximas for the suspension. They buy it for the power potential and amenities.
