98 SE 5spd vs. 94 concord?
#1
When I told my friend I was getting a Maxima, he laughed. I told him its not the kind of car he thinks it is, and he told me to prove it. So we will eventually race. My max against his concord. Any predictions about how it will be or will I end up embarassing myself?

Pretty easy
It is an open and shut case. While the 94 Chrysler LH cars had the 214hp 3.5L that was VERY responsive, the car was heavy, and the trannies sucked (his car must be the biggest POS!! and that sucks, because it was fairly nice brand new).
Anyway, I have an AutoWeek time here for a 94 Intrepid ES - 0-60 in 8.92 seconds. Yes, I know it is poor, but it is the truth. His concorde is torquey, which is why he is confused into thinking he has a chance at all.
Bottom line is, you'll win. Hell, you can even shift at like 5 grand if you want

Father in law had a 94 COncorde with the 3.5. It had lots of ***** down low (when it got traction) and would probably be close up to 40 or so. After that thing loses 1st gear it slows dramatically. By the time you're at 60-70 it is gasping for air. It takes forever to get over 100 (compared to the max). Stop light to stop light in town it will be real close. Remember he has traction control and only has to mash the throttle. I'd race him on the open road so you can walk him after 40 or 50 even if you get a bad start.

Puhlease....
This has got to be the biggest joke I've read in a long time. My Grandma has a 95 Concorde. I hate driving that big ol boat of a car. It's heavy, slow. Basically it's a grandma car and I just can't imagine one of these racing a beautiful Maxima!!

My friends are idiots
Yeah, I know my friends are dumb, but I just wasn't sure. They all think that their American made cars will beat an import anyday. My other friend drives an old blazer, and a seebring. I guess I'll just have to wait for the snow to clear up a bit, and prove to them that they're wrong.
