4th Gen GXE owners...>

a couple of questions for you GXE'rs

1.) Has anyone successfully added stock fog lights to their GXE? did you use the foglight stalk like the SEs or just do the aftermarket thing?

2.) did any GXEs come with BOSE?

3.) did all GXEs come with the stationary antenna? has anyone swapped that for an auto?

4.) has anyone successfully installed a factory sunroof on a car without a sunroof previously? (I'm thinking it would affect the structural integrity of the car...yea? nay?)

thanx

BOSE does not come in them....

as far as I know all Maximas come w/power antennas

an aftermarket sunroof would be a risk of leaking if it is not done at a very professional shop....

and buying the 5 speed is a good idea...

1. Yes many people have done it. You should buy a new set though, because only those will come with the stencil which you use to cut the holes in the bumper. You can buy them from an SE, but cutting will be a little more difficult since you won't have the template. Also, you need to remove your blinkers and check to see if you are already prewired for them. Most GXEs with Security & Convenience (keyless entry/power seat/chrome exhaust finished) package are. But some aren't, and you should check. You will also have to swap in the light stalk for foglights (which most kits include).
2. No I think Bose was only available on SE and GLE trims.
3. I didn't know any Maximas came with a stationary antenna. Mine is automatic and I have a '96 GXE, so yes I am assuming it can be done fairly easily.
4. You can do, structural intengrity will be fine, but most people are scared of the leaks. MANY aftermarket sunroofs have leaks. Anyways most shops can get an install one for about $1,000. However you can buy the factory parts cheaper than $500 and get them to install it for about $500.

That's an excellent price if the car's in good condition... if you like the car snap it up. If anything goes wrong you can sell it for probably more than you paid.

1. I believe many have installed the factory foglights on their GXE since the wiring comes along with it if you purchased the C&C Package.

2. My GXE has the BOSE system.(great sound, bag quality)

3. I have an electric Antenna.

4. My GXE came with a Factory Sunroof.

Never seen GXE with sunroof and/or bose. About fog lights '95-'99 all fit. I bought after market fogs, then smashed my front alittle and put all '99 for free in local bodyshop(bumber, SE gril, stock fogs, clear headlights and corners)

I dont have a power antenna... GXEs without the C&C didnt come with one in '97 I am prewired for the fogs, look underneath the car you'll see a harness and wires taped up underneath the car

when you buy the foglight stalk make sure its year specific- i know they changed from 95-96 and 97+

dont even mess with the sunroof... not worth the money and not worth the rattles/leaks

1.) Has anyone successfully added stock fog lights to their GXE? did you use the foglight stalk like the SEs or just do the aftermarket thing?

Delio did the install for me. I ordered a foglight kit from Courtesy and it comes with the stalk that you need to add. It also comes with an extra relay for the relay box.

2.) did any GXEs come with BOSE?

mine didn't, but I think it would be a PITA to add

3.) did all GXEs come with the stationary antenna? has anyone swapped that for an auto?

mine has a stationary antenna, but I'm pretty sure you can swap in the power one. Do a search because it has been discussed

4.) has anyone successfully installed a factory sunroof on a car without a sunroof previously? (I'm thinking it would affect the structural integrity of the car...yea? nay?)

bad idea

1) Dont' mess with the stock stuff unless u're really into the integrated/stock look of the fogs and stalk. Both Carnal and I have added aftermarket lights and I'm absolutely sure they outperform the stock ones (Carnals look HID and bright as heck...mine are bright as heck and look like Lexus fogs). As far as I know (and the dealership) all nissans are pre-wired for fogs. Just need the lamps, stalk, and relay. Truely plug and play. But who cares! Go aftermarket!
2) You'll get pretty good sound if you go aftermarket. the Bose is killer good, but kinda a hassle to get it to work. Plus, you run the risk of the Bose eating your CD or speaker amps dying.
3) Carnal and I have non-power antenna. You can add a power antenna from any 4th gen Max. It fits right in and plugs right in. You're already pre-wired for it. Don't forget to get the drain hose so water doesn't soak the inside of your car. You might check out www.maximadriver.com to see what a "euro antenna" looks like. Carnal, Chebosto, and I all have 97 GXE 5sp, base models w/absolutely no options...pretty much the cheapest Maxima you can purchase.
4) I have no experience w/aftermarket sunroofs. I think there was a 3rd genner that did it. You get what you pay for, so don't skimp. It won't leak if it's done right.

95 and 96 all have power antenna, you can get a 97-99 GXE without a power antenna. Weird little trivia fact for you.
