Car keeps cutting off and slips in reverse any ideas?
Sweet Moses this cant be good. Almost Every morning before school it does this and sometimes when Im leaving school. Ill start it and let it sit for a few before i go. Then when i put it in drive it just either cuts off or the rpm's drop it shutters then shuts off. It even does it once ive gotten moving and i stop at a light sometimes. Now the check engine light is on. If you have any ideas of what it might be let me know. HELP!

i just had a problem like that, same symptoms exactly, no cel tho.
High and low clutches were burnt, torque convertor cooked... turned out that the main reason was a seized valve in the valvebody....... either way, it's not looking like a cheap repair......

Pull the codes from your cars computer. Read the thread at the top of this forum entitled "My check engine light is on". Once you get the codes you can look them up in the thread below that one. A sensor has failed, the check engine light indicates a code is stored which will point you to the failure.
P.S. - There's nothing wrong with your transmission.

When you put your car into reverse does it stall? When you're coming to a stop while driving, do the rpm's drop to like 2 or 300 and cause the car to shudder, then it either cuts out or jumps back up?

Yeah it does. Once I've been driving for a few minutes it usually stops doing that. Its just for the first 2 or 3 minutes of driving though.
