HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I beat you ALL!
-I pay $4200 a year.
-I am 18.
-I own the car myself (not in my Dad's name).
-I have FULL Coverage, I mean everything, TOP coverage on everything.
-I don't have any tickets, but I was in a accident that I am currently in court over, so it is deemed my fault until I prove otherwise.

AND.....I am a poor college student, so I dont have money. I will be going on a paid internship starting in April so I better start saving.

We have a similar thing with State Farm.
We have 3 cars, home, IRA, Life insurance all with State Farm.
I may get my liability levels dropped as it's covered on the business liability insurance now.
That's the biggest chunk of the premium! $441 a year for the Bodily Injury/Property Damage coverage!

I envy and am jelous of most of you on what you guys are paying

Im am paying $395month under my sisters name(23yr) for full coverage, Under my name(I'm 20) they wanted 9500 a yr ,
Parents are too hard headed to put it under their name , they couldnt even put some money in for me to buy my car, I bought the car myself and paying the insurance myself

Now they are gonna raise my insurance to $410 a month just because i live in NY, even with clean license

but i guess its all worth it as long as i could drive my baby

I am from NY but went to school in NC. I bought my max in NC and got it registered and insured down there. Even though I graduated I just make a trip once a year to get it inspected. I think $85 a month for full coverage is worth it. And thats because I had a speeding ticket in the last year. Seeing that my friend who is the same age as me(21), got quoted for $6000 a year for full coverage I don't think I'll ever come back to NY insurance. My insurance is Nationwide. Another bonus about having a NC license is that they don't have that speeding ticket rule like NY. You know the 6 points and your license is suspended. I luv NC.

For those of you paying 250+ monthly, I would raise the deductible to the max amount - $500 or $1000 dollars. While you would fork this over in case of minor accident or theft, ect., the money you can save on your policy would easily make up for it. Set aside $1000 for your own personal insurance, and max out the deductible! The limits, leave high. Thats what insurance is for anyway, the huge bills. The little stuff is always easier to take care of yourself, in the long run.

(BTW, 25, '97 5 sp., single, SLC, high deductible, high limits, $60 dollars a month. Thanks to parents policy and discounts.)

I guess you would pay quite a lot if it was just your own policy, 18 year old is considered EXTREMELY HIGH RISK. NJ has one of the highest, if not the highest rates for auto insurance.
