New lowering springs with stock shocks

Can anyone give me an idea of how long the 95 Maxima SE shocks would or have lasted on your Maximas or other peoples Maximas that you have heard? I know that the SE shocks will last longer than the GXE or GLE but can anyone talk about how long estimate they should last before I would have to buy new better shocks.

I ran Sprints (probably the harshest spring, with a 2" drop) on stock 1996 GXE struts for 10k+ miles with no problems. The ride was bouncy, but nothing was blown or broken.

My 97 SE rear shocks died on their own at 70K with regular oem springs. That's when I upgraded to Progress springs/AGXs.

If you can, wait until you have the money you need for springs AND shocks. That way, you don't have to spend money twice for the install.

My stock shocks were starting to go at around 90K ... if I had put any kind of aftermarket springs on my car, they would have probably blown.

It really depends on what kind of driving and what the road conditions are. But like StygianMax said, one of the main reasons to wait until you get both springs and shocks is to save yourself the time and money with the install.

It can range from a few hundred miles to 10s of thousands of miles w/o problems. I would think that aftermarket struts would do a better job of controlling the springs even if the OEM are NOT blown.
