I started my car this morning and i heard some crazy noises. when i rev the engine i hear a whine coming from the engine bay. i know it may be something like an altenater but i am not sure. is there a way to test my altenater or is there another thing happening.

 

the voltage regulator in the alternator could be going bad and loading it down. any local auto parts store should be able to test your charging system....most do it as a free service hoping you will by the parts from them.
