If you haven't done all the rest of your exhaust work then save this one for last.. It'll yeild like 1hp at most.. I changed my rt cat to a test pipe

I've heard its worthless as well. Many people have complained of fitment problems. I'd go with the test pipe if I were you. I got lucky... found a group deal on the test pipe for $50 shipped.

Budget exhaust does good on the price at $25 canadian or around $17 american.
Test pipe, that is.

It helps if you are boosting. But I would recomend Carsound Cats. They are a lot cheaper and work just as well.

those of you with test pipes, you are killing our environment, i dunno, it just seems very wrong and selfish to me.

I have the random tech. and I think it may have helped my throttle response just a little but basically gave me no performance over my stock cat. If you have a clogged cat then get one, if no then stick with stock and spend your money elsewhere

I agree. I mean, if you were getting 5-10+ hp out of the deal, people might be inclined to look at this with a more forgiving eye. But 1 hp????? C'mon!

Do you guys realize how many more pollutants are put into the atmosphere by a vehicle running without a catalytic converter?

It's a HUGE amount.

A test-pipe/straight pipe in lieu of a cat, is a totally irresponsible, pointless modification.

If you must, go with the Carsound or RT cats, whichever you get the better deal on. Performance diff. is negligible.

$17 DOLLARS, for a Maxima Test Pipe, and it yields 1 hp or more? Also, i wonder if budget can provide custom exhaust pipes and test pipes...like for the 240sx-->Nissan Silvia conversion I'm doing in January. I need a test pipe and 3inch exhaust for that monster in the making. I LOVE NISSAN.

I'm sure they'd love to, if you wanted to drive to Canada.

That is a fact. Bovine FARTS contribute as much to the state of the atmosphere as a few missing catalytic converters.

Ok,

A) Cows have to fart.

B) You don't have to run your car without a cat.

I don't understand your bovine-logic. If everyone thought that way, what a dung-hole of a world we'd live in. . .

Sorry 4 the rant, I just cannot stress enough how very bad a practice this is. I'm off this thread - I promise.

Peace out.

PLEASE KILL this thread before it turns into a political discussion. Everybody has opinions on the environment. If you want to discuss environmental politics send me an e-mail, and I'll be glad to do so.

This is not true at all. The majority of cats arent functioning properly to begin with. I know a number of people who have gone through inspection with test pipes and passed with no problem including a 1979 f250.
