y pipe smog

all the searches ive done says you can still pass smog with a y pipe..i noticed most peopel that said that arnt from so cali.. jsut wondering if i can pass the so cali smog test with a y pipe..i think our requirements are a bit tougher than everywhere else..

as i recall your exhaust system on a cali spec is already more restrictive than a fed spec to account for the higher emmission standards in your state.
i doubt you would fail the test with just a ypipe. usually what causes ppl to fail would be a high flow cat.

it should be ok as long as you car is warm, a lot of people say that you shoul run the car for 1/2 an hour or 45 mins before the emissions test. Do you actually have a aftermarket cali spec y-pipe, I heard budget was making one but never heard much bout it. I have to do my fed spec in March, I hope it will pass.

i didnt even know they made a cali spec..i havnt got one yet...thinking bout it for a personal x-mas gift..its either that or a rsb..whatcha think..sway bar or budget y pipe?...

A few months ago, I read a thread about how cali spec having 4 02 sensors compare to fed which has 2 on their ypipe. Somebody was saying that budget is trying to make one... I don't know the exact story.
