Brake fluid leak

I have a slow brake fluid leak that I cannot track down. I've had to top off my resevoir 3 times in the last year. I bled my brakes once, and inspected them, but I couldn't find any leaks in the wheel areas. Is there somewhere else I should check for possible leaks?

I'm totally stumped...

Have you noticed any puddles where you park the car? If not, I would say that you don't have a leak. When was the last time the brakes were done? It may be just the calipers pulling in fluid from the reservoir, and nothing else.....

As your brake pads wear, the pistons have to make up for the distance. The more the pistons push out, the lower fluid in the resevior. It's not uncommon for the brake light to come on due to low resevior when the pads are at the end of their life.

I totally did not think of that. I guess all 8 pads wearing would do that. Mine look fine, condition-wise, but they are getting old (approx 50k miles).

Stop being cheap Ben and replace your brake pads with some lifetime warranty pads from Autozone.....

Ramius83 Ben

BTW, when you come over here, I will do your brakes for you for free, granted you have the pads......

I don't need new pads yet...

...and I cheaped out by getting Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads from AutoZone

They have been great so far. I havent looked at the rears lately, but since they are OEM-type, they should have plenty of life left. My original rear pads lasted 120k miles.
