1997 MAX VS. 1997 BMW 328 with AUTO trany
I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima SE with automatic trany. I am bored with this car and want to buy a 1997 328 with auto trany. If those cars would race from 0-80 what car would win. I know that 328 weights less than the maxima. Maxima has 3 more hp's but 328 has 3 more tourqe. 328's trany is not as jerky as maximas, and 328 has traction control and maximas do not. Any ideas ???

if you are considering buying a BMW based on its straight line performance as compared to a Maxima, then you are completely missing the point. BMW's are valued for their superior handling and ride quality, not for outright acceleration. Also, 3 series Bimmers tend to weight more than Maximas, but their handling is still superior.
My mom has a 2002 325i, with no options whatsoever, and it handles better stock than my Maxima with upgraded suspension, and it has a much smoother ride.
If i had a choice, I would gladly trade my 98 5 speed maxima for a similar year manual BMW, provided the miles on the BMW were not too high.

yeah that's why they cost 10,000 more for basically the same exact car we have

i'm not trying to talk trash about maximas, but its just a totally different car, believe me
Here we go with the sterotype that BMW are the "ultimate driving machine." I know they are great cars, but please people, don't praise them like they are gods
I have to admit, though, that if I could afford a M5, I would get it in a heartbeat. I say stick with the Maxima, its a good car for the money. Don't fork over extra money.

Yes BMW are nice cars, BUT her car is always screwed up, everytime I'm in it there are at least 3 or 4 warning lights on and little things are always broken (radio, trim etc.). She doesn't neglect it either.
