"So. we're going to tap into the "DIMMER" switch. But not physically the dimmer switch, but the power that lights up the little Dimmer logo. get it? When you turn on the lights, the whole console and radio buttons turn on, right? so we're going to get power from that little logo that turns on when the lights are on. So for this car (97 SE) it was a blue wire. To make sure, use a voltmeter to see how much power is coming to that lead. CUT the blue wire, strip both ends and splice into it with the red wire from the control box. wrap it around a few times with electrical tape to make a secure and strong connection. Test the connection by turning on the lights. The gauges should go on."

For an easy way, you can connect the power wire and ground wire to the illumination switch on the gauge bezel. That is the easy route.......and you will also be able to control the dimness and brightness with the OEM illumination switch.....

Yea, I used the wire to the dimmer logo too. But instead of cutting it to splice the new wire in, I just used an exacto knife to shave off the plastic around a small section of the wire then twisted the power wire for the new faces around that. little tape to make it secure and I was done. Ground wire you just stick on the back of the gauge cluster where it's marked GND.
