My motor mounts are in the oven...
I removed my two upper mounts last night and filled them with 3M Window Weld. I left them on the shop bench over night and they were still a little squishy towards the center so I popped them in the oven at 150 degrees and hopefully they'll be ready to go tonight. I'll keep everyone posted as to how they work. I'm a little skeptical about this Window Weld stuff but I have read a couple write-ups from Honda and Nissan owners who have used it. It comes in a caulking tube and costs $15 at O'Reilly's. I'll let you guys know how it works.
You probably wont notice much of a difference when doing the upper mounts. The lower mounts are the ones typically replaced/upgraded. They have the most effect on wheel hop etc...
I am very interested in the durability of the "caulk" you're using though. Keep us posted.

I was looking at/feeling some of the Window Weld that had dried on the bench and it seemed pretty stiff. I should have them in the car tomorrow and then I'll be able to see if they make any difference at all. I want to make sure they are completely dry before I put'em back in.

I bought 2 bottles of window weld on 2 different dates. However whenever I tried to use it, it was already cured in the bottle
. The first time I only got to test it on 1 motor mount before the rest couldn't be pushed out. The next time I tried to use it and it was already cured in the bottle
. So I cut the bottle in sections and stuffed as much of that stuff as I could into the gaps in the engine mounts. I'm glad it worked for you but it didn't for me. I prefer the urethane from mc-master though that stuff is great.

They're done.
Not much difference really. The shimmy is almost gone. I can hrdly feel it. Other than that though, I can't really tell anythings different. I guess that's good though. No negative side effects.
I think the window weld is a little too soft. Also, it's pretty thick which makes it difficult to get the spaces completely filled without any air pockets. I may redo these in the future with the other poly mix. I think it's a thinner mixture and hopefully it sets up harder. I'm comparing the window weld mounts to my PR mounts when I talk about how hard they are. The PR mounts are STIFF. Window weld is still pretty soft imo.
All in all, not a total waste of time but not something I'd recommend.

I just got done pouring mine yesterday(all engine/tranny mounts) I did mine inside so this poured(caulking gun) almost too easy. But not so goopy that you couldn't just use plastic to hold it in. I actually just filled the big hole in the mount and didn't bother pouring all round the center hole for the bolt. Didn't seem like it would do anything anyway.
As for the softness, you might be right. I feel it's probably softer than the Delrin/poly aftermarket mounts. But some have complained that the 90 shore mix versions are TOO hard. ie.. vibrations when idling etc. I want mine stiffer to help eliminate any possible future wheel hop problems and possible ACT clutch chatter problems. If it does that and still doesn't transmit vibrations, it will be a good success
So If these are maybe like a 60 shore stiffness, I think it would be the right hardness. I'll take another look at mine when I get home. I poured them last night.

How long did you leave them in for? Mine aren't setting up for shat. Still goopy after 1.5 days.

About 22 hrs.
I filled them at 7:00 pm and left them in my shop overnight. It was about 60 degrees in the shop. Then I put them in the oven at 8:30 the next morning and left them in there until about 3:00 that afternoon. I had the oven set at about 175 degrees. They were still a little soft when I took them out of the oven. I waited about an hour so they could cool off and threw them in. They seem to be okay so far.

wow that's a long time. I'm afraid if I heat them up, the goop will fall out! I had one mount done and I removed the plastic holding it in. By the next say 90% of it oozed out.
