new cai
hey guys happy new year, i know of a new cai but it is not from cattman or placeracing. the name of the company is PRM Racing and their is called the Jet Stream Intake System. For more in formation go to http://www.prmracing.com. i don't even think thgey manufacture one for the maxima but we can call them and ask. or if you guys really want something new you can nag them to the point where they get enough inqiuries about an intake for the maxima that they produce it.
I've never heard of Brian Catts (Cattman) doing a new CAI. Besides the one that he sells is from Place Racing. Maybe you guys are thinking about http://www.warpspeedperformance.com
They are supposedly making a CAI, but I expect it to be the same as the Place Racing intake, but maybe of different material or a cheaper price.

Warpspeedperformance? I thought they were making a new Y-pipe, not a CAI. Cattman is indeed making a new CAI, I emailed Brian before, and he told me that it still in development.
Here's the email I got from Brian after I sent him an email asking him about the new CAI from Cattman:

Yeah, you'll need to make up your mind, but I'm happy to give you all the information I can to support your decision.
In terms of function and design, very little difference, though I'll put on a tab that will allow it to be anchored to the car in a way that the PR version isn't. I'd be surprised if there is any power difference at all, its primarily a matter of quality of materials and appearance. Here the comparison:
Cattman CAI*:
polished stainless steel 3" tubing
blue silicon connector tubes
billet-machined MAF adapter
Porsche hose clamps
(*proposed specifications, subject to change)
PR CAI:
mild steel 3" tubing w/ powdercoat
black radiator hose connectors
formed and welded mild steel, powdercoat MAF adapter
simple radiator clamps
Not to take a thing away from the PR intake, its fine design-wise, but I have someone else who can provide these beautifully upgraded kits for slightly less than I can get PR to do their standard kits, so I really have no choice. I think these will be very popular -- they'll be beautiful, that's for sure.
i expect that these will sell for $20 more than the CAIs I carry now (and those will go up $5 to keep up with PR's prices; I price them about $5 lower and now they're -$10) and I may continue to carry the "value priced" PR unit if there is demand.
Main uncertainty is when I'll have these to sell. Company that's doing the bending is behind getting the mandrel dies together so I suspect that the Cattman units are at least 4-5 weeks out yet and that may influence your decision. On the other hand, I'm backordered on the PR CAIs for 95-99 Maximas and who knows when they'll get caught up. Could be next business day, could be two weeks.
So there you go.

I think I'll just wait and see how this suppose new CAI from Cattman turns out. That plus I got no money right now anyway, might as well wait.

WarpSpeed CAI update
WarpSpeed IS making y-pipes and we will also offer a CAI for 3rd and 4th gen Maxima's in several weeks. Prototyping will take place this week. Once complete, it won't take us long to have production models for sale. We probably will start with 304 stainless, and may add other materials/metals once we are up and running. See our recently updated web site.We will be offering it with and without the air filter, for guys who already have one. Thanks for you interest and business. Oh, one other thing, we will be offering the CAI at a very competitive price. We will post numbers once final details are in. Dan WarpSpeed
