5 sp launch techniques

just wanted everyone to share the best way they have found to launch there 5 sp Max. The best way I have found is to idle to 2500 and bog it off the line, anything else and I am just smoking tires. Any other suggestions are truly welcome.

Do you dump the clutch at 2500 or slip it? I drop it around 1500 but thats probably why I get 2.3 60' times.

dump it

I dump it, I just make sure not to give it any more throtle till it is rolling. it bogs down for just a sec. but barley chirps and takes off very nicely after that.

i wait to launch at 2k rpm with the clutch ALMOST engaged. when the last yellow goes, i rev it up to around 2500rpm and let the clutch control the launch while maintaining nearly constant engine speed, this is very easy on the engine and tranny, launches REALLY well with practice. It wears the clutch more, but the dif is negligable.

What do you mean by let the clutch controll the lunch, so you basically slipping it.

well, i am not at all riding the clutch. i am not sure what you mean by slipping it, but the speed of the car is controlled by how fast i let the clutch out. if the engine is revved too high, then you will launch REAL slow since the clutch will not grab, and if it is revved too low, you may stall, so getting it just right takes practice, but when it works, i get perfect launches, with minimal tire spinnage, that are much easier on the car.

Optimal launching will see you ride your clutch a little bit as you don't want to "throw" all the power to the ground giving you wheelspin...I go for the approx 2-3k rpm idle and ride the clutch on the other cars I owned...I am still babying my car with the launches ..There is no set way to explain and trial and error is the best way to determine your ideal rpm IMHO based on your mods & or car

Haha, tricky sig pick man...nice drop!

Anyway, my tires are crap, so usually I just slip a tiny bit at 2K and dump, I get a little chirp and I'm off. I think it would be hard to watch the tach and balance the clutch and everything simultaneously...it just takes practice.
