the engine light of my 96 max is on. i took to the dealer and said the ecu gives softcode. they told me that the problem is the harness or something...and charging me 2000 dollars to fix it. did this happen to anyone else? what harness the dealer talkin about?, and does the price seem legit?, and also is there anything else i might need to check...i will appreciate all the help.

go back to the dealer, ask what part needs to be changed, and take it to a local mechanic. ... also ask if its really necessary to do it? or are there ways aroudn it!

 

When the Engine Control Module detected a problem, it turned on the Check Engine Light and also stored one or more Diagnostic Trouble Codes. The dealer did a DTC readout. It would be helpful if you provided the code or codes. A detailed report of symptoms is more helpful than a vague statement "or something".
