HID lights --- 8500k or 8000k

Well I just talked to Freddie and he told me that they finally received the what is supposed to be the 9000k but apparentely they arent going to have those so the highest they are going to have is 8500K. Freddie says that they give off a white purple kind of look and the 8000k gives off a dark blue look. Same price and everything. So now im stuck. I will for sure order one of these but I just dont know which. What do you guys think?? Thanks

i say go with the 8000K with the blue look, but IMO purple headlights are a plus with the blue you'll have "less" trouble with law enforcement

8000K is to blue

You'll stand out like a sore thumb.

The ideal light color temp for cars is under 5000K. Over 5000K the color is so dark it's asorbed by dark or wet pavement. This greatly reduces the reflected light back to you.

And thats what makes you see.

I have the 6500k kit and its as blue as i would ever want. It is noticably more blue than stock HID's on Acura or BMW, which use 4300k bulbs. The 8000k kit would stick out like a sore thumb and definitely attract attention from teh police, especially since with our 9004 type reflectors, there will be glare no matter how low you aim those lights.

Im still unsure on what I want to get. I might have problems with the police no matter what lights I get. I just wanted to know what yall thought would be the best color wise. THanks.

Osram/Sylvania's highest color temperature bulb is 5400K and Philips' highest color temperature bulb is 5800K (marketed at 6000k Ultinon). The brightness of an HID bulb declines with the higher color index. BMW and AUDI lights appear blue because of the light projectors.

I just installed the blue 8000k Hanabi's that I got from Freddie. He had told me and I had heard that they are pure blue.

Looking at them, they sure are blue, but not nearly as blue as I had heard they would be. If you are looking for pure white, dont get the 8000k. They are just what I wanted, but everyone has their own taste and style.

The road is VERY well lit, excellent visibility and it is very wet out. In dry conditions it will be even brighter.

I've been turning heads left and right and Ive only had them installed for 1 day.

Green vs. blue HID lights

Can anyone help me find the pic I saw on the org that had 2 cars w/ HID lights next to each other, one was greenish and one bluish? Anyone know which the greenish one was?

if you have cops that have nothing to do around your area i would tell you to go with the 7000k kit.

only 2 kits left for 9004 in 7000k

I recently installed the 6500k kit from Freddie and it is an excellent kit. The 9004 connectors are a little loose, so they need to be taped up, but other than that, a fantastic product.

A warning to people thinking of buying HID's. In my opinion, even the 6500k kit is sufficiently "blue" to attract the attention of the police. I would not go any bluer than that if you want to keep a low profile.

If you get the 8000k, be prepared to be stopped by the police. After all, they are only doing their job.

thanks Eric l.
i'm running the 7000k kit in my car with no problems from the cops at all, lets not forget i had all the hanabi hids installed in my car and you see what kit i'm using.

the 8000k is best in color but if you have cops on your @ss, then stay away from them and get the 7000k kit. i think it's perfect.

we stop selling the 6000k kit a few months ago.

7000k is a very light baby blue which is good for driving and still has some color to it.

I soooo wanted HID's a while ago. I was going to buy them too. But I realized that there is no high beam on the 9004's and you WON'T pass inspection. Just thought I'd throw that in.

so if there is no high beam when inspection time comes, why dont you just put the old ones back in for a day?

ross i think it's called being lazy.

no one has a true 9004 low-hibeam hid kit that will last at least 4 months. they all have some kind of problem.

but the word is that every hid company are trying to make it. i just hope it's soon.

I was also going to buy HIDs for my car, but I wanted to waite for the projecters that supposedly coming out for our Max. I notice that they have a projecter fot the lows, and another lense for the highs (4 bulbs HI/Lows). I tried asking procarparts on what type of bulbs are needed, but they couldn't tell me anything. Hopefully that will solve the high beem situtaion.

most projection headlights are made for halogen bulbs H1 or H7 and they don't work well with hids. you need to find a set of hid projection headlights. i haven't even seen a set for the civic or the accord yet and they are #1 in the market.

this why most ppl try to use bmw or audi headlights because they are hid housings.

Does anyone have pics of the different colors of the HID kits, it would be so much more helpful for people like me trying to decide what color would suit me best. I know that a lot of people describing the different colors but I think an actual pic would be a lot better. If people just want to email me their pics of their HIDs, I'll be more than happy to post them all together for reference for the org. Thanx

THANK YOU! How can someone say 8000k is okay and 8500k is bad? They both blind you and other drivers. Human pupils don't contract when hit with blue light. It's really irritating to other drivers and bad for you. To be honest, all those with HID kits that cast blue/purple light. It's just another ricer mod. Because you certainly don't see better. You only see better because HIDs are 3x stronger than regular lights. Slap on a 4200 kit in to your car after having a 8500 and 9000 kit and see the light.. literally! Please, if you have a blue HID kit in a ineffective 9004 housing in the NYC area, stay away from me!!!! At least have the courtesy to cast white light that my pupils will respond to so I don't go blind and get a headache!

I agree with that. A friend of mine has the Hanabi 6000k kit. And it's not really blue. I think Hanabi's color ratings are off. My friend's Philips 6000k kit is a lot bluer than the Hanabi 6000k kit.
