Tranny swap in FL anyone had one?

I'm just wondering if anyone knows a shop in or close to florida that does tranny swaps? I want someone reliable to do it for me, and i want to call around and get some prices, if i don't like what i hear i'll probably end up doing it myself which is bound to be more fun than i'd like to have . But if anyone know's a shop around here that can do it i'd be more than happy to give them the business.

Your in the perfect spot for a 5spd Conversion. Me, Harold (hlh), and Chris (MaxSpeedSE) all got our cars converted from auto --> 5spd by Cbr2 (Chaz Roth). He buys wrecked donor cars and uses them. He knows what he's doin and does an overall very good job. The best part is, you get to help out and you learn a ton about your car.

All this (transmission, all parts, labor) will cost about $1200. Email me if you want his cell phone #.

Best news ever?

Sweet thats the perfect answer, i love the org. Where are you guys at exactly? I'll be ready to do this sometime in mid jan. about the 15-16th. I really wanted to do it myself or work with whoever did it to learn, i'm going to school for engineering right now but it sux and i'm planning on transfer to a dif. school and taking automotive mechanics next year, so this would be a great learning experience. I'll e-mail you when i get home later for the details and stuff.

Yes young one, the mounts are different. One is for manual, one is for a automatic. But that's one of the many minor parts that comes off the donor car for the swap.

hey now, lets not get lippy here ... i meant where the transmission mounts onto the car, those locations are still the same right? you don't have to like weld new brackets on?

Ohh...nope, no welding AT ALL. Everything bolts right up. You just take the parts off the 5spd car and bolt them up. The only "abnormal" thing you have to do is drill through your fenderwall to route the clutch cables.
