spark plug gap

spark plug gap

sorry for such a simple query. but what is it? and also what plugs are yeilding the best results?

.039 to .043 but evryone here seems to use .044. My coppers are all between .042 and .044...

I just got NGK Platinum but cant figure out which would give best result. .043 or .044. Can someone help.

If you are running coppers, you'll want to gap towards the small end of spec. As the electrode wears, it'll stay within spec. With the platinums, staying on the high side of spec will be optimal. Because platinums wear much slower, you don't have to take gap increase through time, into account as much.
