Aluminum dash kit over Wood trim

Aluminum dash kit over Wood trim

Has anyone ever put a aluminum dash kit over the wood trim... i don't want to go through the hassle of taking out the whole dash kit jus to get the aluminum dash kit in to look good... so i've been wondering if anyone has the alumunim dash kit over the wood trim... pics would be awesome... thanx again!

thats what most people do, the trim peices are designed to fit over the stock trim

most ppl put it over stock dash with no trim. you will see parts of the wood under the aluminum so you either have to remove it or paint it.

try to buy the stock pieces from a junk yard that are plain to replace the wood trim then put the Aluminum kit on top of that...

thought you could just sand down the wood dash pieces and they change to black, because they are not wood all the way through?

There is no wood at all - it is just plastic that is painted to simulate wood.

If you want real wood, you gotta move up to Jaguars or Benz's.

thats what i mean you could just sand off the paint instead of buying stock black pieces.

We tried doing this on Max4Speed's Maxima when we were converting his interior to black. They are wood plastic all the way through. I would just paint the wood pieces you have now, and place the aluminum kit right over it.....
