timing chain / oil question
timing chain / oil question
I just did the timing chain, tensioners, guides, valve cover gasket, intake (plenum) gasket, oil pan gasket, new air filter, fuel filter, and cleaned the throttle body on my 95 Max (162k) BUT My car is still making the same noise at startup for the first few seconds. The timing chain was rattleing before, and I am wondering if it still is?? or if its the engine not getting oil at startup for a bit. I added a bottle of Lucas to see if this would help - no luck yet. I was wondering if the factory oil Filters from nissan are different from other filters? Do they not let oil drain back from the tensioner? Any help is appreciated on this topic. BTW - Doing the timing chain is a real big pain.
What oil filter are you using now?? The Nissan OEM one does have an anti-drainback valve, but then so do most aftermarket filters. If you're not using Nissan OEM, try that. Maybe the one you're using now isn't adequate.
